colorado police ford utility vehicle | human cheese graterPart of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s job is to encourage public awareness of measures that can be taken to improve public safety. When it comes to the Colorado motorcycling community, often that message revolves around the importance of wearing helmets and other helpful safety gear. And CDOT is not afraid of coming up with interesting ways to frame their message.

In that spirit, on July 21st CDOT in partnership with the Colorado State Patrol unveiled their new messaging campaign: the “Human Cheese Grater”.

The Human Cheese Grater, a stencil painted on the street outside motorcycle dealers around the state, and at other locations, depicts the ‘grate’ part from a run of the mill cheese grater, with text to remind motorcyclists to: “Ride safe, wear gear.”

According to Glenn Davis, the Highway Safety Manager at CDOT: “CDOT continues to find unique and engaging ways to urge motorcyclists to always wear helmets and other gear when riding. Protective gear is imperative to protecting the rider from injury, preventing fatalities and getting everyone home safely.”

The participating dealerships include Fay Myers Motorcycle World, Performance Cycle, Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson, and many more.

Motorcycle Safety

It’s hard to overstate the importance of wearing appropriate motorcycle safety gear. According to the Colorado State Patrol, roughly 75% of motorcycle accidents are caused by the motorcycle rider themselves.

So that means with proper training and safety gear, a motorcyclist can do a great deal to help protect themselves and avoid what could be a very serious accident.

Wearing appropriate gear, such as a helmet, eye protection, gloves, along with protective footwear and clothing that covers the entire body, can literally save your life in a motorcycle accident, providing you with a protective barrier against the hard surface of the road.

CSP also reminds motorcyclists to obey the law, which means no lane-splitting, to ride sober, and they also recommend that all riders regularly take training classes. Not just new riders, but refresher classes for more experienced riders as well.

I don’t know where I would be without the Law Offices of Robert Paysinger. It was a very emotional experience, and I feel as if I owe Mr. Paysinger my life! The other lawyers would promise everything, but it was only here that I felt his integrity and willingness to live up to his word. He and the paralegals were so incredibly helpful throughout the strenuous process of my case. Going through a lawsuit is an emotional roller coaster, but whenever I was confused they would sit and explain everything in terms that I could understand. They provided an emotional support and treated me like family. It’s never about the money there, but about you, if you are upset they will do everything to help you, and work extremely hard for you. They are extremely honest and straight forward. I would recommend Mr. Paysinger to everyone, because they truly and genuinely care about you.

At the Law Offices of Robert Paysinger, I was very pleased with the professionalism and courteousness of everyone who worked on my case. I had a horrible experience with my boss and dealing with my company regarding my workman’s comp. I came to the Paysinger Law Offices and received a settlement for what was needed to further my medical care so that I can heal and get back to work. He defended my rights when they were violated and I am very happy with the results! Thank you!
